It’s so amazing being here right now in Germany and watching KFVE Home Team’s Merrie Monarch live stream.
That’s a huge advantage because here in Germany it’s 9:30 am while in Hawaii it’s 12 hours earlier. Several Twitterati from Hawaii or mainland have expressed their wishes for some more coffee to stay awake :-) In Mexico it’s in the middle of the night so @marielicious wrote:
@hawaiitwentyten that´s a huge advantage , here in mexico it´s 2 am :S
I’m feeling extremely happy - especially cause I know it’s only #14days2go for our Trip to Paradise :-)

This weekend was a pleasure for me watching the live stream of the Merrie Monarch Festival from Hilo, HI on KFVE. I had the advantage of the 12 hour time shift between Hilo (PST) and Schwabenheim (CEST) so I watched the Hula festival in the morning while having breakfast. The overall winner is Ke Kai O Kahiki:
Six-man Waianae halau Ke Kai O Kahiki won every award they competed for in the Merrie Monarch hula festival, including best overall. It’s the second year in a row that the halau, under the direction of kumu hula O’Brian Eselu has won the overall prize and the fourth time in history, having also achieved top honors in 2000 and 2004.

You’ll get more information and a bunch of videos on K5: The 2010 Merrie Monarch Festival on K5.
I used the Firefox add-on “Fox Splitter” to watch the video stream as well to twitter in the same window. The Hashtag #merriemonarch was a Twitter trending topic for the last three days.
Only 10 days left until #Merriemonarch Festival! Does anybody know the link to the livestream?
