Asparagus in Rheinhessen - This evening we will have BBQ with some friends on our patio. Now it’s the season for asparagus in Rheinhessen so we bought some fresh asparagus from a farmer in a little village next to Schwabenheim (where we live). Rheinhessen is the name of the region we live and it’s a combination of “Rhein” (the Rhein river) and “Hessen” (the state, although Rheinhessen is part of Rhineland-Palatinate).
1 pound of asparagus now costs approx. between 1.50 and 4 Dollars depending on the quality.
