Next week our trip to paradise will begin. Almost all our preparations have been finished. I will take my iPhone with me to Hawaii although roaming prices are terrible. But half of the time we will have free Internet access in our bed & breakfast accomodations and I know there will be some wifi hotspots like on Oahu.
I installed some iPhone apps that may be of some help for me:
Helps you to find interesting locations around you like drug stores, restaurants, gas stations, banks, cafés.
Also helps you to find restaurants, bars, shopping locations according to your mood (“Romantic”, “Kid friendly”, “Outdoors”…). Includes a map view.
If I’m on the road and need something from my hard disk…
Flight View (a webapp, but useful)
Looks for your the flight status.
Globe Converter (iTunes Store)

LEO (Link Everything Online) translates German to English and vice versa.

Similar to AroundMe - but only in the surrounding area. Searching via a city name is not possible.
A city guide. There is a city guide for Honolulu: honolulu.metromix.com.
OpenMaps is a feature-rich, fast & easy to use map application that displays and edits open map data of OpenStreetMap.org, the free editable map of the whole world.
The free version provides you with ads ;-)

Weather, temperatures, tides for beaches - and the best beaches of the world are said to be in Hawaii
The Best Camera (iTunes Store)

A restaurant guide for cities and regions like for Hawaii
A very special restaurant guide:
Ever wonder what Hawaii’s top chefs eat on their nights off?
Hawaii’s chefs uncover where (i.e. Palace Saimin, Okata Bento, Sansei Seafood Restaurant, Saeng’s Thai Cuisine, A Saigon Cafe, Las Pinatas) they eat and what food (i.e. Ono Hawaiian Food, Pacific Rim) you’ll find on the Hawaiian islands .
Wikipedia on your iPhone with articles of locations nearby. But you may not look for articles of remote locations like on another island you want to visit on the next day.
With this app you can look for locations in advance - they don’t need to be nearby. There is a paid version that you can use offline.
What else??
I didn’t mention those “normal” Social Media apps like Facebook, Tweetie 2, Brighkite. But I guess I forgot some very cool applications or I just didn’t find them. Whicht applications should I install too? Which ones are helpful too?
