A blogger typically is someone writing a blog. But a blog just is a means to an end. So why not writing with a pencil on a sheet of paper and lateron publishing all these sentences and paintings in a book? So did Heinrich Zimmermann:
Zimmermann was a humble craftsman who joined Captain Cook’s third journey as a sailor and he was the first to publish a travel report about that unfortunate voyage on which Captain Cook was killed (published Mannheim 1781). On the way he took notes in secret, since only the scholars on board were allowed to publish anything. Zimmermann appears to have believed that Cook’s death exempted him from this restriction.
[ Between Cook and Krusenstern: J.H. Zimmermann (1741 -1805) ]
In 1781 he published his book ‘Reise um die Welt mit Capitain Cook’ (Travel around the world with Capitain Cook).
So one could say Heinrich Zimmermann of Wiesloch in Germany was the first European Blogger in Hawaii :-)
