Lava Tree State Monument, HI

I’m sure you all know about Petrified Forests all over the world. But did you know there’s a petrified forest in Hawai’i? It’s the Lava Tree State Monument (Wikipedia) in the Puna District (Google Maps) on Big Island. It’s not that big like most other parks but it’s very impressive.

At least we were very impressed when we went there in May 2010 :-)
